Merry Christmas! ...and happy New Year too

Greetings, football fans. So, the Colts suffered their very first loss...boo hoo...well, I cannot stand Peyton Manning, he is a legend in his own mind, so to him I say "Phtttttttttttttttt!!!"

Christmas was wonderful this year, shared with good friends on Christmas Eve and with Family on Christmas Day. What more can one ask? Maybe for World Peace, for a change, but other than that...

I can finally reveal the awesome, awesome gift I purchased for Granddotter S. at FAO Schwarz in Vegas. A doll that looks like her!! Ok, I thot it was pretty awesome.

I could hardly wait to see her reaction, and here are a few pictures:

Here, she was a little fascinated with the eyes, nose, etc:

Here is "Christmas Kitteh"

And, Grandpa Santa (or Santa Grandpa):

Son A with his Cowboys football:

Son-in-law S with his Russell Peters $34.50 t-shirt, special ordered on the Innerwebs (you can't see the hat very well, but it is a Bud Light hat with a special feature - a bottle-opener cleverly hidden under the peak...is there anything you can't find in Vegas???):

Dotter M (isn't she purty?) with her baybee, my favourite granddotter:

Before Xmas, niece C on her 21st birthday:

And finally, S doing her "Boxing Day coloring":

Sweetest toddler EVER!!

And that' all she wrote, at least for today. Must clean house and get some stuff done. I way over-spent the day after boxing day when I got out shopping, so I cannot do any more of that.

So, until next time, Peace and Love and Happy New Year!

Football News and Other Stuff...

It has been a looooong while, football fans. Have I got juice for you. First - yesterday in Pennsylvania, coach Mike Kelly was ARRESTED for some kind of domestic disturbance. Yup, he punched the girlfriend...apparently she hit him first but, hello? You not s'posed to hit WOMEN, Kelly. Anyway, during the day the news broke that Lyle Bauer (Kelly's only protector, 'twas he who hand-picked Kelly as head coach) resigned! Yes, he did. Clever man...he clearly wanted to take the Calgary offer and the way to do it without repercusssions...yup, resign! And so he did...and he will be off to Calgary. As my hubby 'splained to me this morning, Calgary is a far sight closer to Utah than Winnipeg, and since Lyle's wife is from Utah...well, you do the math.

So, flash to yesterday early evening, after reports all day that Coach Kelly would likely be fired, in a way that would not compel the football club to not be bound to honour the remaining year of his two-year contract. Fired he was! But...the Beauty of this Whole Thing is Kelly did it to himself!!! 'Behaviour unbecoming to a professional (and I use the term loosely, ladies & germs) football head coach'...or some such like that. It's perfect! It's so beautiful I could cry...or laugh. Now, everyone's happy...except those few people (I call those people crazy) who actually LIKE Kelly. Yes, the damage was done to the team, to the media and to the fans (ungrateful b*st*rd, yes I DO pay your salary, MIKE!!! a**hole). But in 2010 we'll have a brand new head coach and hopefully a much better football team.

My drinking team has a football problem.

Now, on to other news. Speaking of football...oh, were we? Yes, we were...

Hubby and son A came back from their trip to Dallas with some awesome pictures that I'll post another day, too tired today, been a long week. They toured the stadium on Friday...it is a thing of beauty and unfathomably large. It should be for more than ONE BILLION dollars, football fans. One...billion...dollars Can't even imagine that much money! So - their "screen" (which we in Wpg. call a "Jumbotron") is a $25 million LCD screen that is 8 storeys high and I forget how wide. But, trust me, it's big. So the tour was grand, the game was grand (hubby indifferent to who won, son sad that Dallas DIDN'T WIN and me...well the Chargers won, like we knew they would :-)

The shopping was grand...I love outlet malls and must insist I go along next time :-) and they did a 'fast food' tour, hitting such American staples as 'Popeye's' chicken, 'Lik A Chik' (don't go there-:), Sonic Burger, In 'n Out Burger, etc. They never had salad or veggies...they are men. They also went to a place called 'Rudy's BBQ' and had some awesome BBQ food. This place can only be found in Texas...they drove out into the desert for 50 miles to find it and they were not disappointed. My sister was in San Antonio a few years ago, and brought us back a spice called 'Rudy's Rub' from...Rudy's! It is amazing on steak and other red meat...and we were almost out so of course hubby brot some back. Some for us and some for my friend's hubby whose name just happens to be... Rudy...and he barbeques...so I think he will love it when he opens that shit up on Christmas morning!

And that's really all for today, next time pics & stuff...too tired...

Love & Peace,
CFM

And...It's Been A While...

Hey football fans, I haven't blogged for weeks! How about that upset at the Grey Cup? Ha, ha, how stupid are those Riders? 13 guys on the field...your worst nightmare. I was kinda happy for the Als, mostly b/c Calvillo is a good guy (in my opinion) and because I friggin' hate the Riders. I do...I admit it.

In the NFL, my son's Cowboys beat the Raiders (but of course :-) on American Thanksgiving last Thursday and my Chargers beat the team they were playing (I forgot who...see above, it's been awhile). Nonetheless, a very good week in football!!!

Christmas will be here before we know it. I have completed and mailed the Xmas cards, lots of them, including the annual holiday letter. It's mostly for kicks and giggles, I started doing the letter thing in '05 when we had such a busy year with the wedding & stuff, and I just continued because I actually get good feedback! My Aunties and other assorted people tell me they love getting the letter...so it's a win, win. I like writing it and...they like reading it! Sorry Kim, I didn't send you a letter...but I did send a Christmas picture of S that I, Roseanne Roseanna Danna took, and it's pretty nice. It's her standing in front of the blow up Christmas thingey, which is a Snowman/Christmas Tree/Santa scene (that also lights up and plays music) and she is tentatively holding Santa's hand. It's a very cute picture and I might add, pretty artsy. I am not in the league of my brother in terms of photography but I do love to take pictures.

Anyway, yah, the cards are done. Lots of gifts are bought but not wrapped. Next Thursday (Dec 10) hubby and son are off to Texas!! Back in Sep, I bloged about Son A's birthday/Xmas gift which was a trip to see his Cowboys play my Chargers (go Chargers!). So yah, it's almost here. They will be back Dec 14th. Maybe I can get some gifts wrapped when they're gone...who knows, anything can happen. I detest wrapping gifts...hubby knows this and never offers to help. But he does lots of other good stuff, including cook (on wknds, weekdays he's home too late) and other...stuff...I dunno, take the garbage out? That kind of stuff.

We are having a potluck at work tomorrow...my small area and another small area, combining our efforts and culinary skills. I chose early on to make my 7-layer taco dip...and I'm bringing Tostitos to go with...duh! Some of the others are making hot dishes...that's not for me, ladies & germs. I don't really like to cook and so I have no 'signature dish' to make. Nor do I care!!! Anyway, it'll be fun and we'll have tonnes of food and I can actually relax for like an hour...work's been busy lately (always).

From icanhascheezburger:

I thought it was frikkin' funny.

I found this one hilarious!!! (I like the kitteh's 'cattitude'):

Hmmmm, what else? That's about it.

TTFN and don't do anything I wouldn't do.

The Winds of November...

Great title, eh? I just thought it sounded like, mysterious...not much to say...anyway...hey, all that rhymes, by the way. That did too! Oh...I am on a roll, football fans. So who's gonna win the really big game this wknd? CFM really does not care all that much since her beloved Bombers were knocked out, early (their own fault). Anyway, given that Calgary won the Grey Cup last year, Burris et al finally got their Grey Cup rings, maybe I'll cheer for da other team...or maybe not.

We are sooooo lucky in the 'Peg to have above-seasonal temps with no precipitation...yet (if you don't count the dam snow on Oct 9th). When I drive by 'the lake' (by our house) at night and see the black sea of Canada Geese sleeping on the water, I can't help but think they are freezing their tushes off!!! What is their problem???!! It's the same story every year, a few misguided geese just cannot get their butts into gear and take off for warmer climes. Fly South! Go! Now! Before it's too late. There's always one in the crowd who gets his (her?) butt frozen to the lake overnight when it starts to freeze over. Typically they are rescued, but sometimes...oh I just can't think about the alternative, being an animal lover and all. I just hope they get on their way soon...dumb-asses!!! Hell, if I had the ability to fly South just for sh*ts and giggles, you bet I'd be long gone...I'd prolly never come back!!!

So, TD Canada Trust. They suck...at least this one particular branch does. My son's GIC (for his edumacation) matured Nov. 6 and on that very day I not only spoke with a nice lady named "C" in customer service, but she got the 'investment' or whatever lady named "O" to call me...and O left a message on my home machine lickety-split, that very day. I wanted another vehicle to put this (copious, vast amount of) money (yah, in my dreams!) into, before son A graduates (God willing) in June and needs it for his edumacation, as stated above. So on Nov 9, I call O and leave her a message...same on Nov 10. Nov 11 was a holly-day, so I call her Nov 12...and Nov 13... and Nov 16. And she never calls me back. How rude! Then I try someone else name of "JL" and we play telephone tag a few times, talk this past Tuesday, and I tell her in the end just write a cheque for the amount of the now moot certificate cuz it ain't doing any good just lying there and I want to put it into my (ginormous) 'premium' savings account at a Credit Union (at a double-top-secret location...if I tell you, I'll have to kill you)...which earns a goodly amount of interest...'spesh when compared with '0' per cent interest.

After Tuesday, JL goes AWOL on me...I leave her several more messages & we play telephone tag for 2 days and then we talk today. I am so exasperated at this point, I instruct her to write a dam cheque and me and my son will be in today after work/school to sign for/pick it up. Which we did. But not before I called this so-called "Manager of Customer Service" (C) at the branch (who was conveniently away today) to leave her a delightful message, chronicling the 2-week dog & pony show of us trying to get our hands on our money. She'll call me back Monday...we'll talk. Methinks this branch desperately needs the following seminars:

  1. How To Return Phone Messages, Period
  1. How To Return Phone Messages In A Timely Manner
  1. Customer Service - You're Doing It Wrong!
Whatever...we got the cheque & that's the end of the story...for now...mutha f*kers

Here is exactly what I think of TD Canada Trust (thank you cheezburger):

And, on a related note:

Hmmm, looks like the gals at TD Canada Trust are on yet another break.

That was way too much time devoted to the Bozos at TDCT.

Here is the BEST LOL ever!!!

And that's it for me, gotz lotz to do and determined to actually get some of it done. Then relax with an MGD...sounds like a plan.

Adieu football fans...

The Fruits of our Labour

This blog is titled thus because I am going to show you my parents' house, all decked out for Christmas! My daughter and I spent alot of summer refinishing the cedar on the house - as you can see there is a lot of it...cedar I mean. First I prepped it by pressure-washing and letting it dry for days. Then I sanded it all. And then M and I primed it and stained it. We then re-stained the deck and son-in-law came in to finish off the deck with the lattice. My sis and niece did the fascia and eavestrough, under the constant supervision of my Pop :-) He is compelled...so you just go with it. It was a promise made the last week of May when he was in hospital for eight days with pneumonia and other ailments...we fulfilled...and then some, methinks.

I took these shots on Sunday...I think the house looks pretty awesome. I can take no credit for the lighted creatures that seem to multiply each year on the deck. (And I think the pumpkins really add to it, don't you :-)

I thought I'd post some shots of Grandbaby S as she has grown this year. And the odd random, just to mix it up a little. I only got to September...more another day. Enjoy.

At Spaghetti Factory in January.

This one's funny, looks like she's about to "lay one on" her Uncle A!

I'm Too Cute!

With her Mama (guess which one has 'bed head').

Princess "S" in her Princess Chair.

A Princess Birthday Cake made with Love by Granny.

In her Birthday Tutu!

Not enjoying the pool at Granny's b'day party.

Romping thru Great Grampa's grass...

Mwaaa haa haa haa haa haa!

Spencer Dog enjoying some sun.

Son A & best bud C on him's birthday.

Baby S measuring Granny's birthday cedar. Yup, it's this tall.

Just bein' Cute Little Ole Me!

I will end with a cool picture from Vegas:

This is a quaint little liquor/deli/sundries store off the Strip (Vegas) that we frequent each tme we go, for cold bottled water and, of course, room beer. It's right behind our hotel, Bill's Saloon & Gamblin' Hall (I sure liked its former name, the Barbary Coast). Anyway, every year they have 21 years left on their lease...they must keep getting it renewed, huh? Oh...I miss Vegas...see you next year! Same time, same place.

That's it for me today, really didn't have time for this, but it's an excellent housework avoidance maneuvre, n'est ce pas?

See you in the funny papers!

Love & Peace,
CFM

Friday The 13th

No, not the movie, just the title of today's blog. Ugh...I am unwell today (and yet I went in today...more than I can say for a lot of other 'no-shows'). I am queasy and have acquired a sore throat...does not bode well. And I am bloody disappointed! A scant week ago, I rid myself of the evil virus that hung out with me for 2 weeks. Grrrr! I haz a mad! So, not going to visit my buddy tonite, will try tomorrow IF i am feeling bettah. Which I better be cuz I don't have time to be sick, all I'm sayin'. Oh yeah, and I have a sick headache. Who remembers the in-laws (Darren's parents) from Bewitched??? The old tv series, not the movie. Anyway, the mother-in-law would always say "Frank. I've got a sick headache." whatever that meant, but I seriously have a "sick headache"...and an achy throat. This week was uppy-downy...two days of work, one day off, 2 days of work.

Awesome report card brought to us by son A...then his XBox broke, but hubby saved the day, they went out and bought another one. Yes, they robbed a bank on the way :-) I took a pass on Parent Teacher which I was convinced was Tuesday (it said so on the calendar...who knew I had an outdated calendar?)
for 2 reasons: One - I had a bad headache/neck pain going on and B. Son A. brought home good marks, so no real screaming need to go...for a change! Wednesday was so-so, did relaxing & some chores, yardwork & housework. Had a bitchin' BBQ for dinner with steak & mushrooms and all that good stuff. It was a good day.

Yesterday (Thurs) I went to the school for the Grad Meeting which I was convinced was yesterday b/c there is one the 2nd Thursday of every month. Except when I got there, the meeting room was set up but devoid of parents-of-grads and I was informed that the grad meeting is next Thursday. Ok. I turn around and there seem to be an awful lot of people milling about. I spot someone I know and ask him if he's there for the (non-existent) grad meeting. He says no, he's there for Parent Teacher...which of course was yesterday and not Tuesday! Whatever. I went home to watch tv...it was Thursday and all my shows were on. So...grad meeting next Thursday, but I already have a commitment (as if I have a life! but I do!!) so I'll ask some other Mom to take notes for me please. What could there possibly be to say that wasn't said at the first grad meeting and that isn't written down in the pages & pages of grad notes, rules & regs...I ask... knowingly...

A cute black kitteh from icanhascheezburger:

Anyway, today not so bad/busy at work, a good thing as I felt a leetle bit like sh*t. What needed to get done got done and precious little beyond that.

So nothing to look forward to in the short-term...in the long-term (by the end of the weekend) I hope to see (cuddle, smooch, etc.) granddotter S...that is, if I am in fact not sick, if I am, then no. Oh please, Gods of the queasy guts, let me get better!!! This I beg of you.

There, that should do it...going to cruise 'o crap my parents joined facebook' and other time-wasting interwebs sites...just because I can!

Adieu, football fans,

CFM

Good Day...Bad Day

It started out ok...nothing unusual. Woke up with a headache...don't you just hate that? At least you should earn the headache; in my humble opinion. Anyway, work was no big deal, neither good nor bad. But more tired as the day wore on and then my neck got into it (old war injuries). However, I went out at lunch to peruse stuff and found a most awesome gift for my seester's birthday. Good Day. By the time I came home, I was pretty sure I wasn't going to Parent Teacher (PT) tonight re: head & neck pounding. And don't you just hate when they put PT on the eve. of a holiday/day off? They do this in the Spring too...Thursday before Good Friday. Thanks...I love that.

Anyway...son A's report card turned out to be Awesome! Marks in the 90's, football fans. Good Day. Great! I thot, he's taking Grade 12 seriously and what a turnaround from the last few years. So, that clinched it for me - no need to go to PT! I'm always going and sweet-talking the teachers, or wheedling them to give him another chance...but not this time!
So I lie down with my gel ice pack behind my neck and the next thing I know, A's XBox dies. It just...simply...dies. Done like dinner...poke it with a fork, cuz it's done. Bad Day. Very Bad Day.

'Speshally considering that not 18 hours ago, he & his cousin K went to WalMart and each purchased the new Call of Duty game for Live. And then his system dies. Oh...the bitter irony. I feel badly, I really do. He proceeds to go downstairs to lift weights and scare the bejesus out of all the cats due to all the noise, noise, noise, noise. Between the music and the swearing and pounding of heavy weights to basement floor, they don' know what to think. I just think, better the basement floor than his room or some furniture (taking a pounding).

So since I ain't going to PT, hubby is making dinner...imagine his surprise when he opened the fridge and found this:

No, we are not having cat omelets, stir-fry or Denver sammiches. We shooed him out and off he went. Catz...can't live with 'em, can't live with 'em...

Since we actually never get around to removing our old "eighties" Christmas lights from the house and putting up new ones, I vote we do this (house on the right):

Christmas Decorating 101 : easy peezy.

Well...that's about it for moi on this good day/bad day.

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, so please remember all those who went before us and made the ultimate sacrifice...and those who are still fighting for freedom and liberty to this day. My hat is off to these brave men and women and may they all come home safely.

Lest We Forget,
CFM

Goodbye Bombers...Nice Knowin' Ya

*Sigh*...*heavy sigh*...all is lost in Bomberville, football fans. Even though Good Michael showed up today, they played very stupidly and they pay a hefty price for it. They are done, it's over, fini, the end of the road, and other phrases that mean the sun has set on our beloved Bombers. I do feel sorry for them, due to the Mike Kelly factor. Really, you can't butcher a team the way he did in June...July...and continued to do pretty much all season, get rid of our quarterback Kevin Glenn who's gone on to do wonderful things for Hamilton, bring in LeFors who sucks big time AND throws like a girl, bring in Bishop after LeFors, Ritchie and every other imposter quarterback wannabe we've had has failed...you can't do all that and expect to have any kind of consistency. Or a good season. Yah, some of them tried, but methinks alot of them gave up and hey, why wouldn't they? They're gettin' paid anyway, right? After game nine...hmmm, sounds like a conspiracy, kinda like MLB. Ugh. Hey Mike, your village called, they want their idiot back. And, Mr. Kelly continued, right to the bitter end, his love-hate (mostly hate) relationship with the media, the fans and the like, all those people who pay his gosh durn salary. A more pompous, arrogant man you would be hard-pressed to find...and all with no good reason...this guy's got an Ego the size of Manhattan, ladies & germs! AUGH!!! see you all next year...well, I'm sure we won't see ALL of you...ah, whatever, it's a sad, sad day and a sad end to a topsy-turvey, uppy-downy, zany season. Hmph.

Oh well. My Chargers beat the Giants today, football fans!!! With like 17 seconds left, Phil squeaked it in. They are SO going to have the Dallas Cowboys for dinner on Dec 13th. This is the game which my hubby & son will be attending...in Dallas...on the 13th. While Iyam envious that Iyam not going, Iyam also looking forward to some ME time...some downtime...some clean the house & get ready for Xmas time...some have a few friends over for wine time! Yes!!!

Anyway, must continue with my current project of purging crap & superfluous clothing from closets and etc., so I can de-clutter and de-crap...and all of this started because I CAN'T FIND MY DAM GLOVES!!! I know I put them in the closet...they seem to have vanished into thin air. Not one pair but two! Black leather and hot pink! which were an Xmas gift from a friend. Oh, I know I'll see them again someday, but I'd like to know where the h-e-double hockey sticks I put them!

G'nite football fans, no bad dreams now,

CFM

Weekend is Finally Here!

Ahh, the weekend...2 of the most bee-utiful words in the English language...aside from "summer afternoon". It's been a loooooong week, but most productive, I must say. Well, at work anyway, not at home...no, I've been resting, trying to get the remnants of this nasty cold outta me for 2 weeks and I think it worked. "The tireds" haz finally gone away...I seriously need to clean this place, get ready for winter, purge, purge, purge (Value Village, I'll have a trunk load of stuff for you :-)

Bombers - it's Win or Go Home time! I hope you guyz haz it in youze to make it work on Sunday. While I won't be there freezing my 'tocks for you, I will watch on the tube if TSN don't black it out. C'MON Blue, you can do it, you can beat those lowly TiCats!!! We are keeping the Faith...in spite of Mike Kelly!

In other news...oh yah, I'm babysitting granddotter S tomorrow while my dotter M gets her hairz dun...son-in-law S be working. I haven't seen her since Halloween, I realize...it'll be fun!! And M has been sick longer than I have with this cold. She can have some 'time out' and away from the behbeh. Sunday, we're s'posed to go shopping...Christmas shopping...for moi, window shopping. Payday is still 6 days away!

Well, that's it for me, going to relax now, lots of stuff to do this wknd...pray for me.

Hope y'all have a good wknd and hope the Bombers win!

Love & Peace,

Present But Not Accounted For

Hi y'all...is it just me... or is it the full moon...or what the F is making me so tired? I'm almost rid of this dam cold, and yet I still haz a tremendouz tired. *Sigh*

Cruising icanhascheezburger just now and this made me laf out loud:
F! Blogger won't let me load it. So now I haz a mad! Hmph!!

'Nother one:
ok, this is bow-shit!!! What's going on? Blogger/You Tube, don't make me come down there!!!
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Let's see if this picture works, since I am apparently not allowed to upload videos today:

Success! I love that cuuuuuute cat, by the way. (It'll grow into its ears)

Well, the Bombers have to clobber Hamilton this Sunday or it's curtains for them...out!!! Hmmmm, let's see...it's a 50-50 crapshoot, and crazy football mom is not that crazy so as to actually mention her prediction out loud. So, let's see how it goes and if it goes the way I thinkz it goez, then I'll tell ya what my predikshun was...deal? Ha! There's one born every minute, football fans.

In udder news, my friend in California informed me yesterday that her hubby & son were in attendance (they were present and accounted for) at the Chargers/Raiders game. *Sigh* Two years ago, Crazy Football Mom was at a Chargers/Raiders game. And the Chargers won...of course! And the Chargers won yesterday...of course! Way to do it, LT, Philip and all the rest of you guys. Chargers cannot be beat by Raiders...that's a Rule. NFL games are most awesome...for a 1:15 game, we arrived sometime in the morning & it was already hot. Hot, hot! We parked in the 'overflow' IKEA lot, conveniently located beside Qualcom Stadium. We proceeded to find our group and had the "tailgating" party...BBQ, Booze, the whole nine yards. Hey, it was noon somewhere!!! Anyway, we headed to the stadium, took in the game in the bright, hot sunshine. And when it was all over, we tailgated (BBQ, Booze) again, with the added Bonus of watching the parking lot fights. Raiders fan vs. Chargers fans...it gets heated and it gets ugly. Those Raiders fans are scary...hell, the little daughters of the Raiders "cheerleader wanna be" Moms are scary! But all in all it was a hoot and I'd love to do it again...next year, hopefully!

So...friggin...tired...can't hardly type. Think I have to call it a night...must lie down, rest my eyes. Yah, that's it.

G'nite football fans...

The Most Beautiful Girl In The World Video

This is a video my brother took of Granddaughter S. at our Thanksgiving dinner at our parents' place (which we deferred to Oct 17 because we were waiting for him and the 2 nephews to arrive). She is lovely and sweet, even if she does eat with her hands! I think it's so cute how he calls her his "grand-niece" rather than "great-niece"...it's all the same and it's all good. If anybody at all reads this blog, enjoy the movie!!!

In other news, the Bombers lost Big Time today. Boo hoo. Sad for the Bombers...I did not watch as I was shopping & running errands. I can't seem to shake this cold and it's left me tired and weak, so perhaps I shoulda stayed home to...watch the Bombers lose? Oh well, mebbeh they'll win their last regular season game, at home against Hamilton next Sunday. That one I'll watch...but only if TSN doesn't black it out locally. Not up to spending the $$ to go, notwithstanding (I love that word!) the fact that it's far too cold for Crazy Football Mom to attend a 3-hour game.

In high school football, Sisler AAA boys are playing Oak Park on...uh...I'll check to see if they've updated the schedule...wait one. Nope! They haven't updated it yet. It'll be either this Thursday or Friday at 7:30...Semi-finals...that I'd like to go watch. And it won't be 3 hours :-)) Of course I hope they win, they got close in '07, but were knocked out in the Final Game. That same year, our A boys (the 2nd year son A played) won the Division Championship!!! Nice if we could get another Sisler win.

Halloween came & went. The kids finally showed up, albeit late, and we got rid of all the bags of chips except for 2, and the one I ate. At one point we had a run of 25 kids in a row!!! We count them; we keep track so we have an idea of how much junk to buy next year :-) That was alot of kids all at one time. And S and her parents came over for a Halloween visit, which was nice. She dumped all of her toys; this is her latest thing. She is just an amazing kid, and I honestly don't think I'm saying that because she's my grandbaby...she's amazing...and totally intelligent. She talks a blue streak, although we cannot understand what she's saying. I now refrain from replying with Chinese food terms, because my hubby thinks it's wrong!...and I guess I really shouldn't confuse-a-kid when they're trying so hard to talk. Given how much her Mom & Granny talk, once she gets going we'll be off to the races!

Disappointing that I won't get much done beyond the laundry, but I have to get better and it's taking its sweet time. It isn't like the mess will be going anywhere soon...it will wait for me, this I have learned.

So, another work week ahead...son A has an inservice tomorrow, I am of course jealous because I do not...I must attend work tomorrow.

See you in the funny papers! And sorry, Bombers, you lose...

Hallowe'en...Where Are You???

So, it's 5:17 and I'm sitting here testing the chips (a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it :-) and waiting for the Ghosts, Goblins & Princesses. Where are they? When will they get here?

Baby S. will be coming over later, in her "BEE" costume...so cute! We'll have a visit & take some pics...and that will be Hallowe'en over for another year. I wish it was warmer outside, we could play in the piles of leaves around the yard. Because we had summer in September, and then cold and SNOW on October 9th (which thankfully melted) the trees are all confused. Lots have not even dropped their leaves yet. And for sure it's going to snow (stay or no stay) in the next 2 weeks...it's Winnipeg! Where anything could happen. We could even have warmth again in November...I hope so. They say it's going to be an El Nino year...I hope they're right...whoever "they" are :-)

Global Warming? Come to Winnipeg and I'll show you global warming...idiots. That b*shit is just a bunch of make-work propoganda. Sure, I believe in "climate change"...but not this global warming stuff. The weather patterns are CYCLICAL people!! Giant chunks of ice melt every couple of 100,000 years or so. It's happened before and it'll happen again. Brain up! Don't just follow like lemmings...I mean, lemmings are cute, but not in human form...are you picking up what I'm laying down? Good.

It's 5:24 and still no kids. WTF?

In other news, babysat S. today, she was wonderful as usual. We played tonnes, she had a 2+ hour nap (my nap was short :-) lunch, play and then it was time for Granny to go. I cleaned the maison...a little...cut me some slack, I have a bum knee and ankle and remnants of this sinus cold. But the cold seems to be improving...touch wood.

Bombers play at noon tomorrow. Hopefully they will kick some Als' butt...Bishop, do it like you mean it. Yah, he's got an arm like Favre, but let's work on the accuracy. And our receivers are not 10 feet tall (I don't know when he'll get that).

Good Luck Bombers, we know you can do it Blue!!! We'll be watching ;+>

I hope the kids get here soon or I can't be responsible for the rest of the chips...

Love & Peace and Happy Halloween!

Random Dumbness

I am an idiot, football fans. I fell again. Again! In the dam Safeway parking lot...well, not just Safeway, there are other establishments there. But, I parked & got out of my car, walked towards the front of the car to go left and all of a sudden I'm going down! I checked after I got up (quickly, *blush*, hoping nobody saw, right?) and yep, my foot got caught in a 'divet' (a circular indent for a water meter) in the concrete. This was cleverly disguised by the leaves it was filled with. Grrrrrrrr!!! I haz a mad!!! So my frikkin' right knee (the one I hurt in August) is bruised AND bloody, and I also hurt my left ankle...it must have gone wonky when I was going down. Sob! And... nobody saw, or if anybody did, they left...parking lots are so...transient. So it isn't like I can sue whoever owns the dam parking lot for "dangerous divets in the concrete". And Then...I get home and notice that I have completely wrecked my brand-new ankle boots!!! The front of the right one is pretty much torn/scraped off, so I have to go find another pair. I wore them twice. I haz a double mad!!!

Have iced the knee, now icing the ankle. Man...if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.

So whatever...I can't let it ruin my day/weekend...no, this nasty sinus cold is doing a swell job of that. When can I lie down?

Happy Halloween everyone! I forgot to say that this morning.

I present...LOL Cat...now in Fun Size:

Speaking of cats, I saw the teeniest, leetle, charcoal grey (with white tummeh) kitteh just sitting on the boulevard, dangerously close to the road, while driving in to work today. She (he?) pulled at my heartstrings, but I had to keep driving. It looked like it was wearing a collar...what kind of crazy cat owner lets a leetle, teeny kitteh such as that out all by itself?? A bad one, I say. Oooooh, that makes me so angry!!

Irresponsible pet owners of the World...I hope the Bluebird of Happiness craps all over you...and your stuff!

Here's what my naybor's cat had to say about the whole Halloween thing (and may I add that I am insulted, since I am the naybor this cat is dissing!!!):

And what exactly is wrong with handing out apples and toothbrushes??? Do we seriously want all the chillen gettin' cavities?? Anyway, that was last year and I wrote this morning about what I'm handing out this year. I can't wait for the cute little Princesses, Goblins and etc. I'm pretty sure there will be alot of Snow White's this year, as she's the "hot thing" right now. Yah...Snow White is hot...that sounds just a wee bit perveted, n'est ce pas? Whatevas.

So, here's granddaughter S. in her Bumble Bee costume...the Cutest Baby & Toddler Ever!!!!!

S will be BUZZing around tomorrow lookin' for candy...akshully, her parents are just taking her to a select, few places t show her off & that will be her Halloween. She did have the daycare party, so sweet!!! must find out how that went.

So, Bombers, good luck for Sunday, you beat 'em once you kan do it again (providing Calvillo is still out ;-)

Also - do not forget to turn your clocks one hour back this Sunday morning!!!

I'm turning my clock back to my twenties!!

On that note, au revoir ladies & germans, we'll see what tomorrow brings.

OMG It's Almost Hallowe'en!

Where did October go? It was October 1 and I was getting ready for Vegas and...it's October 30 and I'm getting ready for Halloween! As much as I get ready for Halloween...with this crappy cold all week, I soitenly do not feel like hauling up the "Halloween" box and decorating...or whatever. Although the "severed leg" is tempting (from my son's halloween partay a few years ago). It's delightful to watch the reactions to the severed leg when we have it sticking out of the mailbox. Ha! So many lafs...so many little kids scared sh*tless. It's all good...

No Neilson or Hershey bars this year. We're handing out leetle bags of Chips, Gum and some surprise *treats*...leetle boxes of Junior Mints, Dots, and other cool candy. I do not eat candy. I do eat chips however, so I of course bought enough for them and for *moi*. Hey, you gotta do your part to not waste the halloween candy...or chips...

I babysit granddaughter S tomorrow...I haven't done that for a few Saturdays, so it'll be great! We'll have tonnes of fun, naps and lunch...and maybe squeeze in another nap. Then I'll come home, attempt to clean the house & then it'll be time to hand out the chips and candy. Do I sound obsessed? Normally, I'm not, it's just that the month went so fast and it all kinda snuck up on me.

S actually has two costumes this year! (Last year she was a pumpkin). I will post a pic of her in costume on another edition of this-here blog.

Almost time to get ready for work...ah, Blessed Friday, you're finally here.

And the Bombers play Sunday. Altho I did want to get to a movie with dotter M. So much to do...so little time.

TGIF, football fans and see you in the funny papers!

It's National Cat Day!!!

And I didn't even know...until I read about it on the Innerwebs, so it must be true. Hurray for cats 'round the world and beyond!!! ...beyond? Well, you know what I meanz, football fanz. Here is National Cat Day's winner:

Sooo...feeling very catty today, ha ha, no pun intended. Really.

I have some homework to do, for work, and I asked my kitteh to prepare the computeh for meh and here is the result:

Guess I won't be getting it done anytime soon. Plus, I'm still somewhat sick. No, it's not H1N1, thank God. But it's a nasty cold that has taken up residence in my sinuses, thwarting all my attempts to flush it out...well with the exception of literally flushing with saline solution, a prospect that doesn't appeal much...at all.

So...Hug your Cat(s) today and Happy National Cat Day!!! Had I known, I would have baked a cake, I swear. My cats will just have to settle for leetle kitteh hugs.

Sigh...must lie down...head hurts...maybe you'll hear from me again on Caturday, if me head stops aching.

Oh yes, and will you please spay or neuter your cat??? (and dog, too) At the risk of sounding like Bob Barker (who?), be a responsible pet owner. Not a dumbass who thinks it's cute to watch animals mate. Get a life... I call those people Losers.

Love & Peace,

Redonkulous!

So, I'm sick today. I was fine til Saturday evening...within 1/2 hour, my throat closed up (well, ok, it dint really close up) it got all hurt-y and stuff, and my head & eyes ached...and then Sunday, yay, I woke up with a redonkulous cold! Made a birfday cake for my seester, did some laundry, but rested in between. Sent cake & gifts off with the boys to the birfday cellabrashuns in the evening, as I was def not up to it. Today, rested, that's about it. Just when you fink you're getting better, the nose fills, the eyes well up, ya sneeze 10 times (or so) and the froat is now redonkulously sore, sorer than it was before. Methinks this fing is morphing...into something EviL.

Anyway, speaking of redonkulous, will you please look at the redonkulous ears on this ass, er, I mean this donkey:

He's actually so durn cute, I'd have him for a pet in a heartbeat!

Saw this poor kitteh on the street the other day:

Will you please check out his TAIL? OMG now that's different...I like it!

Jeez...I'm not well, mus' lie down...see you in teh funnie papers!!!

Bombers Victorious!!!

Wow...they actually did it. Our Bombers beat the Alouettes 41 to 24...awesome, awesome, awesome. Way to go Blue, we are so proud!!! Bishop threw for 411 yards and 2 touchdowns...much better than last Sunday, hey Michael???!!!

It didn't hurt that Calvillo was out and I heard their kicker was out as well...oh well, sucks to be you. Aand of course, we had newly-signed Troy Westwood back with us. Didn't actually watch the game b/cuz TSN in all their insanity punishes a non-sold-out-home-game-crowd city by blacking out the game locally. Shame on you, TSN. That is not gonna make me (or a lot of other football fans) run out & buy tickets. Idiots.

In other news - feeling sick, wicked raw throat and runny nose. This is not good. Granddotter S is on the mend as I believe is son-in-law, but dotter M is way sick still. She has to work tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday is her day off, so she needs to rest. I need to rest. I will be doing some homework, for work, as soon as I get off this-here blog thingey. Not a good time (when is it, really?) to be sick. I wanna go back to Vegas...*whine*.

Anywho, mus' go, things to do, deadlines, commitments and obligations...these are the Days of Our Lives, football fans...

Again, Way to Go, Bombers!!

Love & Peace,
CFM

Yawn! oh, ah-scuuze me!

Tired, football fans, it's been along week. No time to Blog...until now...

So, what's this I hear about the Bombers signing Troy Westwood? Did Hell freeze over and I didn't get the memo? Oh well...welcome back, Troy! We have missed you! That mean old Doug Berry, he ain't the coach no more, oh no. We gotz the Village Idiot now, Mr. Mike Kelly. In his defence, at least he likes you (unlike Berry) which would be why he welcomed you back with open arms. And...we need you! (smile) Will you please help your teammates beat Montreal on Saturday?? I know it's a tough job, but eye-nose you can do it, Troy! Good luck.

My bro & nephews went back home to Ottawa after a 6-day visit (well, 5 for N). The whole family got together for dinner and we saw them quite a few times, and I think they enjoyed themselves while here. A good time was had by all. See you guys again soon! Y'all come back now, ya hear?

So, I was debating with my cat earlier and here's what he had to say:

That's about it, really...more than he has to say on any given day. Come on, he's just a cat!

Anyway, I'm tired and there's really nothing more to say. Well...my granddotter has a cold and now my dotter is sick and son-in-law too. I tell you, it's always something! Feel better soon, guys...sending tonnes of love.

Where was I? Oh yah, tired, so going to bed now...or maybe read. 'Darkly Dreaming Dexter'...oh yah, Dexter, one of my fave tv characters, now in book form. Ok, the book came first, silly, I was just trying to...oh never mind.

G'nite

Post It Notes...

I'm too tired today to upload any pics or anything, just short "post it" notes today...

For a short week, it's been a busy week...next week/weekend will be busy as well. It never stops, football fans.

I don't know what the Vegas line is on tomorrow's Bomber game against the Lions, but I'm gonna wager a bet of my own that our Bombers will kick the Lions' collective asses. This is my prediction and yes, I'm stickin' to it.

My bro & 2 nephews are in from Ottawa, so it was good to see everyone...briefly yesterday but all afternoon/evening today, the whole fandamily for our deferred Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings. We also celebrated my Dad's (upcoming on Oct 23rd) 80th Birthday, and my Girl and Son-in-law's 4th wedding Anniversary. Did I mention they wed in Vegas? Which is when hubby and I fell in love with the little town... But I digress.

Going to the game tomorrow - our Blue are on a 3-game-winning-streak, so we must show our support! Mike Kelly aside...altho he does seem a wee bit more human (humble?) now that they're not playing like the worst high school football team in the land...was that just last month? But we won't say another word about that...

Anywho, S, S & S are off to the States tomorrow and back Tuesday, so I wish them a safe trip and happy shopping! First time with the Babe, so we'll see how it goes (well, I hope :-)

I am Blessed. I know that and I often forget, but I am. I have a lot more in my life than a lot of other people do. I should not waste time wanting stuff I don't have, but should appreciate and hold dear stuff I DO have (and I'm not talking material things here...I'm trying to be profound).

So... Go Blue you can do it tomorrow! We believe in you!!! I'll be there freezing my 'tocks...all for you guys!!!

I may write more tomorrow - for now,

Love & Peace

Back...To Winter???

Hello, football fans, I'm back from Vegas!! We had a blast! And we came home to...winter? Disgusting! We in the 'Peg have only had 4 snow-free months this whole year. Here's what we came home to:

What the F is UP with that? Grrrrr..... Anyway, go Bombers, you can beat those TiCats!!! C'mon Blue! The Vegas line is...I forget, but it favored Hamilton...gee, I wonder why.

Back to Vegas - yowza, it is truly the city that never sleeps!! I recall one year walking back from a show at the Tropicana, stopping for a Fat Burger and strolling with our drippy, juicy burgers back to Bill's Gamblin' Hall (called Barbary Coast at that time, beside the Flamingo). There was barely anyone on the streets at that time (3 a.m.) Not this time! We arrived, got to Bill's about 12:30 a.m. Monday...regrouped (read had a quick Margarita and a beer) and went out on the Strip. It was teeming with people...for a Sunday night! (Monday morning) and it wasn't even Cowboy Week (December). We did Casino Royale for $1 Michelobs & strolled for a long time. We love Vegas...it's just so...cool. I think we just feel free there...unencumbered...do whatever we want and go wherever we want whenever...and the shopping is the shit!
You can always spot the first-timers...their heads are on a swivel...left/right/up/down/OMG!!! Plus, they're walking around with their loser mile-high, plastic bottle Margaritas from LaSalsa Cantina, or their souvenir Eiffel Tower frickin' drink from the Paris. Oh well, they'll learn. One dollar Michelob, in a bottle! All I'm sayin'... Frozen margarita with a goodly amount of tequila for 99 cents at Bill's. Get a clue people! You don't have to spend alot to drink in Vegas. Idiots.

Here's a sign from Bill's:

They have lots of old wood & stained glass...when they tear it down and they will eventually, we have dibs on the elevator sign!

So we shopped our asses off, buying treasures for ourselves and Xmas gifts for our peeps. I got lots of Xmas shopping done, yay! I cannot reveal what it is for fear my darlin' dotter may actually read my blogs, but I found granddotter S the absolute most amazing thing ever!!! From FAO Schwarz (the toy store from the movie Big) the most amazing toy store in the world. Here's a tiny portion of Schwarz:

That is all I can say until Boxing Day...I will at that time unveil a pic of the most incredible thing I ever bought (well, except my new Corolla, which is the shit).

On the way to the Galleria shopping mall in Henderson, we spotted this street that bears the name of our granddog, Spencer:

This mall is Awesome...take it from me, I've been to alot of malls! Here is but one picture (palm trees everywhere :-)

Hoover Dam was awesome, amazing and...humbling, for the many men who lost their lives building this engineering marvel, even more so given the time it was built (1931-1935) with crude tools, pick-axes, ropes and cement blocks...oh, and dynamite!

It is completely amazing...but the scenery is breath-taking. And the bridge they are building between Nevada and Arizona over the river channel...they have completed the 'road from Nevada' and the 'road from Arizona' portions leading up to the chasm, and have to join the two over the chasm (which is f'ing huge). They've built a huge, steel arch from one end to the other, on which will rest the rest of the road, no play on words intended here.

On the left, Arizona and on the right, Nevada. You can see the wires in the sky from which descend a crane, also on wires...and there are guys working on the arch as I type...it is quite the engineering marvel (I never tire of that phrase). Oh, and Hoover Dam itself (a small portion):

Anyway, some people may say "ah, Hoover Dam, big deal" but it IS a big deal and the scenery alone is worth the trip and the price of admission, which is only $7 for parking. Yes, they built a frickin' parkade in the middle of the mountains! I am always amazed by the shit they can build in the mountains. Little bit of dynamite and we're off to the races...amazingly cool. If you go to Vegas, you really must "do the dam"...you don't need to buy a tour, just walk around...all day if you want. We walked and then drove over the dam into Arizona (yes! now I can say I've been to Arizona) picked up a few 'souvenir rocks' and went back to Nevada.

Oh yes, and here's a small portion of Lake Mead...it's the hugest lake I ever saw, next to Lake Superior and well, the ocean:

We drove to Boulder City to have lunch at the Coffee Cup Cafe and...wouldn't you know it, the Griswold Effect kicked in. We arrived at 2:40 and they had closed at 2!! Hubby saw this cafe on Triple D (Diners, Drive ins and Dives). Anyway, a litte ways down the street was Mel's Diner and we ate lunch there. We didn't see Mel, Alice or Flo, but the waitress was a friendly little cutie and the food was delicious. A quaint little place (Boulder City). We were baked pretty crispy after 'dam day'. But we were not complaining!

We just needed to refuel which of course means beers & margaritas. We went to The Tequila Bar & Grill in Bally's for the 48 ounce Mararita in yes, a souvenir Bally's Margarita glass (but a classy one, hello?). The drinking glass is for 'scale'...it's all about perspective people! It's just a shame the Margarita was from a mix and not that tasty, hence we only finished 1/2...that's still 12 ounces each...hmmm

We partook of the "Graveyard Special" steak & eggs for $8.99 (only $3 more than the decent steak & eggs at Bill's after midnight, which we had several times). Anyway...this was the best steak & eggs we have ever eaten...it was like country-fried steak with gravy which was delish. Even the scrambled eggs were to die for..Yum-Oh!!!

I'm ready to go back...it was hot & sunny, 80 degrees every day. We spent Friday leisurely, then relaxed with a few brews by the Flamingo pool (Bill's doesn't have a pool, but the Flamingo graciously allow Bill's patrons in...damn decent of them).

Footnotes:
Went to Margaritaville, had a few drinks, went out on the balcony to people-watch, but that got boring pretty quick. We tried to see the car show at Imperial Palace, so we took our two free admission passes and went down there, only to discover they were closing (close at 6 p.m.). So, only two Griswold Effects, we can't complain. Our flights home were uneventful and crash-free, given the stinky weather in the 'Peg (wind & snow) I think were lucky to land at all.

And so, we're back to reality. Oh yah! We're going to see Russell Peters tonite, yay!!!
"Somebody gonna get a hurt reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal bad!"

Can't wait, it'll be great (hey, that rhymes).

Bombers winning 21-0 as we speak...Come On Blue, you can do it!

Love & Peace,
CFM
